I’m relatively new to reefing and this is one of my first attempts at keeping an easy SPS.

I got this cyphastrea frag maybe 7-10 days ago and it was looking full. Now I see less and less polyps and they are replaced by this white matter. It doesn’t really look like bleaching so maybe sponge but can it grow this fast ?

Whatever it is I would like to know what to do to give it a chance to thrive.

First days (already not looking as good as in the store)

This morning before the lights are on. I’ve circled the white growth I’m talking about :

Thanks !

Looks like sponge to me. The same thing happened to me with GSP so i just used a new toothbrush to brush the sponge off

Yeah my GSP is full of sponge. I used to take it off but it was always growing back so I stopped.

I’ll see if I can help this one a little bit. Thanks.

eta : I took it out and it’s not sponge. It’s very hard and part of the frag, so I guess it’s skeleton and the frag is not going well. :-(
