Im in the process of setting up new tank, I do have some live rocks, would like to clean them before adding them to the tank, what is the best way to bleaching them and for how long for, any advice greatly appreciated!

Agree with above. The entire point of buying actual LIVE rock is so you get all the biodiversity thats living on the rock.

Now if this is dead DRY rock, then by all means bleach it.

Thanks for the reply, it was LR, but left it outside for a week or so, I presume its dead rocks now.
What’s wrong with the LIVE rock you have that you want to bleach it? Bleaching will kill everything on them, defeats the point of LIVE rock.

I want to bleach them just to make sure its pests free and later on dont want to have issues with phosphate leaching.

Was the rock in some sort of container with saltwater or just on the ground? If it was left out to dry, chances are there is no life left on the rock. Bleach the rock for a week, chlorinate for a week and let them sit in fresh RO for a week. You can place them in the sun to dry after that.

OK, I understand now. BRS has a video on bleaching rock. No need for it to sit for a week or two.

Thanks very much indeed for all the help! appreciated .

Make sure to use just straight bleach. There's about 50 different kinds now. Avoid splashless, Chloromax or any sort of gimmickry.
