Hello everyone. So I took the plunge and bought a piece of acropora finally. BUT........ it is bleaching a little bit on the bottom. I have had it about 4 months now. My water parameters are perfect meaning undetectable phosphate levels no ammonia, nitrites, or nitrates. My tank has been running for about a year. The piece of coral is sitting on a piece of live rock that is 9 inches away from the lighting, which is about 5 and a half inches below the water level. I am running a t5ho light fixture that has 4 bulbs at 54 watts each. i run 2 actinic bulbs at 420/460nm, 1 10k white bulb and a purple bulb. the bulbs can be seen here AquaticLife 48 Inch 54W T5HO Bulb and the fixture is AquaticLife T5 HO 4-Lamp Light Fixtures w/ Lunar LEDs
the timer is set to the default times that they had set.
When i got the piece of acropora i had no clue what i was doing other then what i seen online as far as putting it in place so i did get a little glue on the side about where it is bleached out but that piece of glue fell off about a month ago....I am thinking this is maybe why that spot is bleached. Will this spot ever recover from that, or maybe its not that at all. I really do not know. well i guess throw out your input and I will make adjustments as necessary
