You can see this picture in my other thread about some items I picked up at my local clubs frag swap today. I thought I'd also post a thread tracking my rescue mission of this bleeding apple scoly. It has recessed some where you can see the skelton, the flesh is almost see through, and when I first got it the mouth was gaping. Hopefully, I can bring this guy back to life. I want to be able to track my progress, and see how long it takes. Here's a first starting shot. This is just after a dip in coral RX before going in my tank. Starting date: 6-16-12

This is after a couple hours in my tank. It's puffed up and looks a bit happier, but there's a long way to go. You can see in the picture that the flesh is almost see through. I'm running 4 T5's and this in the bottom. Its been like this for awhile in the tank I got it from.

Doesn't look too bad, shouldn't be hard to save hopefully. Try to get a small piece of silversides down its mouth a couple of times this week and it should plump up in no time. Maybe tempt it to feed first with some cyclopeeze. Good luck with it.

Jeez you beat me with your 2nd post! Looks like it plumped up already. I had one that looked like your first pic and it only plumped once I got some meat down its mouth.

Thanks guys! Spaceman that master scoly in your avatar is freaking sweet! I was gonna try some PE mysis as oyster feast. I've got cyclopeeze and and silversides as well. I just didn't think it was ready for silversides just yet, but I may try that. This is my first scoly.

Nice find, looks happy in its new home. I agree with feeding it, my scolys are pigs!
Also agree that spacemans avatar is sick, let's see some more pics of that bad boy! (sorry for being off topic)

my scoly love new life spectrum pellets... its spit out the silver side the past 3x i tried so i stoped...

mine was worse than that when i got it, i put it in low light and low flow and just waited, after a month i could start feeding it and slowly started ot move it out under the lights and it came back great!

I posted in your other thread :)
This guy doesn't look too horrible. Good eye for picking out the hurt ones. Sometimes all they need is a little love. :)

I tried to tempt the scoly to eat last night with no luck. I tried cyclopeeze and a small bit of silverside. Today on the other hand, I used a mix of oyster feast with artic pods to get it to open up, then it downed a good size piece of mysis. So far so good.

i use fauna marin pellets, i remove the scollies from the main tank once a week and put them in a small 2.5g tank.. as soon as i touch them to start moving them their mouths open wide waiting for the pellets..

Another update, that I meant to post last night. The scoly at another large piece of mysis last night and is already looking much better. Its starting to puff up and the flesh isnt so transparent anymore. I have this thing in indirect light and low flow. Its awesome to already see some improvement. Will try and get a picture tonight.

I'm jealous bro, I'd love to try my hand on a scoly.

Congrats on your rescue of this beauty!!! Sounds like things are going very well. Keep up the good work!!!

Beautiful looking scoly and sounds like things are going well with it's recovery. Looking foward to hearing more updates and seeing more pictures.

I never had luck with silver sides, they would take it down but spit it back up later. It seemed like they dissolved the skin and spit up the meat later on.I feed before lights came on, and about 7. PM up comes the meat. Now I use raw scallops cut into 1/4 in. cubes. A lot cheaper than mysis .

I may try something other than silvers sides as it has yet to eat one but loves mysis. Everyday its looking a little better as you can see below.
