Bleigh's 60 gallon cube

Saturday I put a tuxedo urchin in my 60 gallon and moved the pink one to the biocube. The pink one is having a blast, but the tuxedo urchin has not moved from its spot. It was sitting flat on the sand and now it’s on the wall, but still the same corner.... not sure if this is normal behavior of if it’s dieing...

If he has moved already, I’ll tend to say he is ok, just keep an eye on him. He should be just adjusting to the new tank.

He’s not moved from the spot I put him at. Unless he’s a ninja. On time lapse, it looks like his spines are moving... but that may just be the water flow.

And it’s official... the new urchin is alive. He’s in the same corner, but no longer sitting on the sand bed- About an inch above it.

I knew it !

I knew it !
My gang of 6 and me were pulling for it! :)

lol. I think he may be very nocturnal. He’s shifting around a bit now but as the lights get brighter he goes dormant.I guess I just choose a good location for him to return back to every morning.

This was a few days ago. It was the male next to one of the females. I have some along the line as he was changing, but scrolling through all these pictures is crazy. I’ll have to sit down at my computer to find them. I’m super excited though. He’s getting super pretty and his pelvic fins have turned a crazy pretty burgundy color that I can’t seem to capture with my phone camera. Can’t wait to share.

Great colors.

Hahah. New update... urchin is dead. Just got another one from Nemo’s reef. Had his feelers out and the other one didn’t. I have a better feeling about this one. When I get the new one in the tank, I’ll post.

I also got a GORGEOUS acan. It’s dark green (nearly black) with light pink stripes. And a reef link, finally. can’t wait to get it all acclimated.

Sorry about the other urchin... very unfortunate. Glad you got a replacement, though, and the acan is looking great!
Yeah. It happens. The new one is scooting around just fine. I suspect the first one was on its last leg when I bought him.

Huh, just realized we’ve started our tanks around the same time. Looks great!
Yep. I started salt in my biocube about a year ago and outgrew it quickly. Started the 60 gallon cube over the summer. Much better with space now.
