Blenny is stressed

I received a Midas Blenny 2 days ago and put him into QT. He has not left the corner and still has a stressed mottled appearance. How many days does it normally take for him to relax and get his color back? I cycled the tank for nearly 4 weeks before i put him in QT and the water parameters are fine. No ammonia or nitrite and nitrate is at 5ppm.
by the way, i am leaving the light off. The only reason it is on in the picture was to get the picture. Thanks.

How old is this system? These guys need a old tank with loads of pods. I can see by the image your tank is not old enough. Take him back to the fish store or he will be dead soon. Please research the fish before buying.

He’s probably stressed because he’s in a glass box with a white pipe. He can’t blend in, he can’t hide, that’s probably why he’s stressed.

So are you saying don’t quarantine? I have done my research and everything I read says to quarantine before introducing to the display tank.

Anyway you could stick some rock in their and cover the pvc so he has a good place to hide?
As for requiring pods, I find that difficult to believe they are that reliant on that and still listed as a beginner friendly fish on most websites. All fish that are like that are usually listed as difficult-expert if they need pods that bad.

If its worth anything, I have a Blue Star wrasse, it took 5 days before she even started swimming out in the open (remained buried in sand the entire time) and a few more days before she even ate. Sometimes fish just take time to adjust.

Has it responded to eating at all? They are active eaters that needs a variety diet.

Agreed on the pods. I am sure they would eat them if available, but not required for life. He must be thinking of a Mandarin.
I actually do have a large media bag full of Seachem Matrix that he hides behind. That is where he spends most of his time. I also have several other pieces of PVC.
I have not seen him eat yet. I have introduced frozen food the last 2 days and did not see him eat, but he might be getting it when I walk away.
Good to hear about your wrasse. Makes me feel a little better about the Blenny.

I think he's confusing the two as well. Literally no where online says they require a substantial pod population.

1. Its still soon, probably still adjusting.
2. You're 100% correct to QT
3. If it has places to hide im sure that's not the cause.
4. Once it starts eating its probably on its way up instead of down. So see if you can get it to eat over the next couple days.

That being said, sometimes fish don't make it between all of the shipping they go through.
Blennys are super easy though and have great personality and will be a wonderful addition to your tank when ready.
