Office tank (IM Nuvo 10g).

Noticed a splash and flopping on the screen lid. Tailspot blenny jumped theough the screen--I was here to immediately put it back in and it swam right back to its barnacles. No idea why it did that. Only change to the tank this week was addition of 2 emerald crabs, but they were nowhere near the blenny when it happened.

Does a smaller screen hole size even exist and make sense (corals growing in this tank under an AI Prime)? I suppose this could happen at any time I'm not here. Just accept the risk?

Running parameter tests to see if anything has the blenny in a fuss.

I've had numerous fish jump through the IM mesh lids on my IM Nuvo Lagoon tanks as well. It stops about 75% of carpet-surfing attempts, but that's about it. The only thing you could do is cut a finer nylon mesh, place it directly on top of the existing mesh and glue it in-place (you don't want any gaps that a fish could theoretically jump through and get caught up in).

That looks like 1/4 inch screen. They do have smaller 1/8th inch screen you can get.

Typical trait of gobies and blennys, smaller mesh would be nylon screening or interweaved screening

Will smaller mesh significantly interfere with the AI Prime 16HDs light penetration? I have a Crocea clam as my highest light consumer, and I want to make sure it gets enough light.

Might reach out to the IM folks to see if they have a smaller mesh lid--I tend to botch DIY projects.

It will definitely effect the light a bit. Is your prime running at 100%? If you have access to a par meter you can take readings before and after changing the screen and make changes to intensity to balance it.

That is the same as my Nuvo 20 lid. You can get smaller clear mesh from Clearview or Top Lids.

I've lost 3 blenny's over the years. They jump. Doubt it has anything to do with your water.

Assure its clear, not white. Will filter spectrums slightly but not significant
