Blenny swimming along the sand

My blenny was fine until today when I noticed that he has been swimming along the sand. Even during feeding. He’s been in the tank for over 2 months no problem; and is an ORA captive bred blenny.

All of my parameters are in check and all of my other fish are fine. I just did a 15% water change. I have been treating the red cyano in my tank for 3 days. I followed the correct dose. I also have been using Red Sea Aptasia-X to kill off some aptasia that’s been spreading

He kind of wiggles along the bottom with his head on the ground until he reaches a corner of the rock where he relaxes and goes limp. Is this a swim bladder issue or something else?

Treatment of Cyano usually results in a temporary reduction in oxygen, ensure skimmer is running, and/or aerate the waters with an air stone until treatment is done.

Just rule this out as the problem with the fish as it does occur during the use of one of the Cyano bac oxidizers.

it could be many things, I’d just watch carefully.

It’s definitely not going to hurt.
When your treatment is finished, you can mop up the rest with GAC.
It’s virtually impossible to treat conditions until we know what, if anything we are dealing with.
Watch for any signs of degraded health or behavioral changes.
Make sure he’s not being bullied.

I haven’t seen any bullying so far. The dottyback, shark nose goby, and clownfish I have behave. They’re also all ORA captive bred

I have some concern that the only problem is the one fish.
So something may be up.
If he eats every feeding, just leave him.

He regularly eats during both feedings

Sounds like a buoyancy issue. If so, points to internal issue.

Red slime remover and chemi both suggest their product does lead to lower O2 levels.

Chemi clean. He’s hiding somewhere now, and can’t get a new picture under white light

I’ve used chemi clean twice before when the blenny was in the tank and never had any issues, which is why I was concerned that he was behaving like this now

Not suggesting it’s the likely cause, but needs to be remedied anyways IMM if your treatment with Chemi continues.

I’m hoping this will be the last treatment. My NO3 and phosphate levels have been steady for months. I suspected the cyano was from my RODI water not coming out pure, but just couldn’t kick out the cyano for over a month. Even with weekly water changes

Ya, I agree, you have to eliminate this bacterium by manual and chemical means, in essence, causing a reset to the DT.
As nutrients are in check, it should not return.

He finally came out again and is just laying there. Appears to be breathing lightly. The air stone has been running since the start of the post
