My tank suffered ick about three months ago, I removed the goby who at that time appeared to not be seeing well. He came out at feeding time and seemed to snap at nothing while food swirled all around him. After some time in the little tank he appeared then to be seeing the food. He was healthy and active and I thought it was time to put him back in the DT. (Last Saturday) After maybe 3 days his vision seemed to wane again. He comes out for food but doesn't see it. I am removing him back to the small tank but I am baffled ~ as I have kept both thanks equal. When the water change in the mall tank I used water from DT. They test identical and having done this over the last 3 months it would seem the Goby would remain blind in the small tank. I started this morning with Bacterial infection remedy at half dose as I have inverts, but now wishing I had begun with Kannplex. I don't know if the two can be mixed and wont take the chance, but can anyone think what I am missing in the big picture?

Have you noticed any possible aggression towards it? Some fish can pressure others not to eat.
My hawkfish has a similar problem where it saw the food but never really went after it, but never showed any obvious symptoms for anything else. Recently it’s fins became very chewed up, indicating something has been beating up on it.

What kind of Goby? Some Gobies are Brackish Water, too high of Salinity will cause them to loose vision. Also Gobies that are found in the Ocean, have a sensitivity too high salinity’.

I've never seen a case of intermittent blindness in fish, not sure how that would happen. Is the display tank a LOT brighter than the smaller tank?

I imagine it would be but before the ick there wasn't a problem.

Could be flukes, some go for the eyes.

Pics a little fuzzy, but the fish looks fine in that shot.
It might not be a bad idea to treat for flukes with prazipro as a precaution though.
