Any ideas of why a fish would suddenly (over a period of two days) go from normalcy to completely blind? I"ve got a Royal Gramma that was at the end of his QT that seems to be completely sightless now. It's eyes look okay physically. Been alone in QT so no aggression by tank mates. Can't figure this one out. Oh, and final question: Does anyone have any first or secondhand knowledge of a fish ever regaining its eyesight once it's been lost? TIA.

What meds have you used in QT, if any?
Any infectious diseases that you saw or suspected?
It seems like various neurological things can happen in QT especially and they're not at all well explained.

Flukes perhaps, but the eyes usually look cloudy.

Can you give a little more background info? You said the eyes look fine... what makes you think it’s blind? Have you treated the fish with anything so far?

Velvet can cause that, so too can copper levels that were too high. Can you share with us what meds you’ve used, the duration for said treatment, level of treatment, and any symptoms prior to treatment?

Also, photos of the affected fish’s eyes would be useful for us. :)

As for meds, I put him through a 30 copper treatment and a subsequent 14 regimen of Metro/Kanaplex/and Focus dosed directly into the water. And I'm pretty sure he's blind as he does not react to ambient movement or external stimuli at all as he previously did. You can literally scoop him up with your hand now and he will no longer go after any food. He pretty much just hangs in a corner at the waters surface both day and night. By the way, this fish WAS attacked previously when put in the DT a couple months ago which necessitated its removal back into QT for treatment...if that's any help.
