Blister on euphylia?

I have been noticing my euphylia retracting from time to time and noticed this weird blister/growth, see pics.

It seems to be growing in an area that recently separated due to normal growth. Although I can not tell if that is the cause or just coincidental.

Could it be egg deposits, sores from pest bites, pests etc..?

Should I dip it?

Any help is appreciated!

Have you tried gently removing it with tweezers? How long ago did you notice the "growth"?

If you can an iodine dip and a dip in coral rx couldn't hurt.

Ok, the advice of investigating with tweezers was a good idea.

The blister was actually a hard calcium skeletal like disc. It popped off quite easily. But it seemed to take some flesh with it. It look hollow in there’s.

Have you tried gently removing it with tweezers? How long ago did you notice the "growth"?

See, I have a few good ideas every now and then
As for the depression left in the skeleton, can you see any flesh through it? If not, it will likely grow out soon enough.
If you think there is a hole that goes all the way into the live organism, I'd dip with iodine to be safe and prevent a bacterial infection.

Initially I thought it looked like a limpet. But if it wasn't just on the surface and left an indentation, then it was probably something else.

I don't have a lot of experience with euphyllia that produces buds rather than just splits, so the skeleton around that area might just be growing normally

Haha. I do not know but limpets tend to present themselves differently from my experience and also in groups.

I do appreciate you pressing for more information though.

I seriously have no idea what this was.
The hard disc was similar shape to a limpet, but it crumbled with very little pressure.

The tissue seems like it was either eaten, or tore away when I removed the thing. I can now see into the skeleton.

I am monitoring.....

Sounds like you made the right decision in removing it if there was tissue damage underneath.

I do not remember damaging it. But that is a possibility. And it did cross my mind that this was a scar, but it seemed to grow. And now I Maynard have ripped its scab off?
