Blizzard preparations

Get the air pump going right away.

I have one of those battery ones that turns on when the power goes off... Love it! Cheap insurance.

Just stepped outside for a minute to snap this pic. As of February 12th 139.8" Now in a blizzard with expectations of up to 9" more by tomorrow.

Hope you don't lose power, Nanareefer.

I was happy to wake up with power, but then my wife called that we had water leaks in the ceiling!

Ice dams are sending water inside. We have giant icicles and ice clods all over the roof from all these storms. :(

I had a pipe break last week.

We're pretty acclimated to these conditions. Especially knowing when to leave all the taps open ;) No power losses but for the first time ever we had 6 highways closed at the same time.

The inside looked even better. It is a balmy 2 degrees here this morning.

It's a little blurry but my truck thermometer read minus 9 here in CT.
I'm sure that's balmy to some parts of the country, but that's the coldest I can remember.

Thats cold. The coldest I can remember here in new York was -6 degrees.

Thats cold. The coldest I can remember here in new York was -6 degrees.

While stationed at Ellsworth AFB, Rapic City south dakota in the late '70's, we once had -35 actual temperature with chill factor of -75.

Hope everyone is ok during the chilly weather.

That's cold. It doesn't get that cold here on Long Island because of the ocean temps. I was stationed in Colorado for 6 months where it got down to about 22 below. I am not crazy about that much cold but I will say that 5 degrees here in damp Long Island feels worse than 22 below in dry Colorado. But I am not sure and anything below about 70 is cold. I had a tank in Colorado and loved to chase buffalo in 8' of snow. No, I didn't hit any.

My wife is from GA, and she says the winters there were worse because while it only snowed once every 20 years where she was from, it was always cold and damp in the winter, the kind that makes your bones ache.
She likes the snow more then me now. She will hop in my truck in a middle of storm and go for a ride. I just tell her don't get stuck because I am not loading the kids in the minivan to come get you.. Lol
