Hi all I just picked up a 6line wrasse from my LFS and didn't notice his belly until I got home, been doing some reading and what I've come to conclusion is it might be a bloated stomach infection? Heres a picture of him 2nd day in the tank, yesterday he was wayy more bloated, seems to be going down but I just want to know if it is an infection should and could I treat with metro soaked food, I have some on hand already made for my clowns a bit ago.

If it's an internal infection, metro soaked food might help. I would also soak Kanaplex in his food (alternate feedings) because that is more of a proper antibiotic and will also cause diarrhea (just in case the bloat is due to blockage.)

Okay so kanaplex is best for internal infections? Going to need to pick some up and are there any tell tales to know it is a blockage, or internal infection? I saw him poop like twice the day i got him without feeding and it was normalish looking? It may have been a bit compacted but from what i could tell no stringy or anything like that. Heres a bit of a better pic its pretty round lil belly, hope i can take care of it thanks humble.

Have you seen him poop since he started looking bloated? If so, it's not constipation.

A gas bubble in his swim bladder is another possibility, but that would be unusual for a sixline and it also should be getting bigger (not smaller) if a gas bubble was present.

Yes i have definitely seen him poop atleast 2-3 times I was kind of surprised cause it was right when i put him in, it was sort of grey/brown and looked normalish i suppose not stringy or white.. The belly is still round and apparent if it is a gas bubble what could I do for the little guy? could it maybe be prego? but it wasnt with a male in the LFS so im just spit balling, because it hasnt gotten bigger unless its a slow incline. He's eating super active loves my rockwork setup hes got a route he swims all over so hes not lethargic or anything like that, hes chillin with my clowns happily, I saw a tiny bit of aggression with him and the bigger clown but i think they settled it and are friends now.

Is he over eating? If he's eating a lot then his belly can look swollen like that. If he's eating again before his bloated tummy goes all the way down, then it will appear as if he is bloated, it gets marginally better, then comes back again. Just an idea...

Ok so i really hope its not that because im not ready for fish surgery... but i'll just keep an eye ifit gets bigger

uhm honestly I saw him eat a few bites this morning but not too much, i'll pay more attention tomorrow and report back. If it is from over eating do i just not feed him for a little bit? dont want to starve him but if hes so bloated like that it must be uncomfortable.
edit: just remembered he's constantly picking at my rocks, dont know if its algae hes eating or copepods but that could be it? like i mean constantly picking but he came into the tank with the belly.
