I have had this tiny (1.5") YWG for over 6 months. He has always had a bit of a belly, but as he grows so does his gut! Is he just fat, or is it a parasite, bloat or constipation? He is very active, and eats like a pig.

Thanks!!

Gosh, that doesn't look good to me. Do you ever see this fish expel any waste? I'd be concerned about a chronic intestinal obstruction. Perhaps due to a parasite or something else. If so the fish might be growing for now but it would probably succumb eventually. I'm just speculating though and haven't actually seen this before myself. #reefsquad, any thoughts?

That does indeed look unnatural... There are a couple here who are lossipos better equipped to answer this one than I am..
Let's get some eyes on this.. #reefsquad

Lots of possibilities: constipation, worms, tumors. or eggs. Constipation can be helped by treating the tank with pure/plain Epsom salts at 1 tablespoon per 5 gallons. Also try feeding it peeled green peas along with the Epsom salt. Worms are a little tricky. Best to get it out into a QT and feed it General Cure + Focus, and again the Epsom salts in the QT water to help it pass the dead worms. Tumors, not much you can do. Eggs will either be expelled into the water or absorbed by the body. Neat fish.

Boom, right one the money!!:)

I would agree with @Big G - and it wouldn't be the first time, either.

Especially as this guy doesn't look like an adult, and all of the identified female "yellow" watchman gobies I've seen have been gray.

We believe you! :p

Good luck. Please let us know how it goes.

Encountered this morning my watchman goby swimming on the side with a bloated belly like this!

Never happened with any fish before so I’m kinda worried that I can loose my buddy.

Helpppp?
