So just yesterday he was healthy, swimming and fat? Now today he's floating, looks skinny and is showing stress coloring? I dont know of much that would bring a fish down that quickly.... there are a few things. I'm wondering if you ever noticed any behavioral symptoms before hand? Maybe you passed it off as nothing or just a one time thing? Scratching, flashing, twitching of the head? Swimming into the flow of the powerhead more than normal, hiding under rocks, breathing heavy? Was he QT'd before going in the tank? Did you add any fish/corals recently and were they QT'd?

Did not notice anything out of the ordinary before hand.......he just looks like he hasn't eaten in a month......you can see all his ribs and spine.......like I said he has been in the tank for over 2 years now and I havent added anything new to the tank for quite some time now....

First off, get this fish into a QT or at least an acclimation box so he isn't getting blown all over the tank. When a fish that is being well fed and was otherwise healthy starts looking skinny, the culprit is usually an internal parasite/intestinal worm. But I don't know of any (not even Hexamita) that will make a fish go from fat to skinny in just one day. o_O It's more of a gradual thing. So something else must be in play here.

You haven't added anything new recently? Not even corals/inverts/chaeto/live rock or sand? Basically anything wet from another tank that could have transmitted a disease?

I have no idea, what would cause a fish to shrink up that fast. Poisoning?.What exactly do you mean by quite some time?

Yes, pictures are needed. Internal parasites seems most likely. Could it be that you just didn't notice him losing weight? Maybe you got busy, like we all do, and just didn't notice until it got really bad?

I had a ten year old giant naso do this after my tank move. (He didn't get skinny overnight but the rest of the symptoms are in line). Tragic, but they seem susceptible to stress more than many fish. He only made it a couple days after the move.

Did you do anything stressful or did anything happen to vastly increase stress levels?

Sorry to say he didn't make it.........no he didn't get thin over time and I didn't notice it ........like I said me and my wife, was just looking at him the day before remarking how beautiful he was getting...nice and chunky and bright colors
