This appeared today. He's in a 20g QT with CP and hypo, though I'm bringing salinity back up since I started CP. Achilles that was in there died last night. There's also a mimic tang in there who looks fine but was just added yesterday.

How is his breathing?

Can you share more details?

How long has it been in qt?
Is it eating?
I see a heater, what’s the temp?
Any air stones?
Ammonia level?
Did you freshwater dip?
Any thoughts of why Achilles passed?
3 tangs in a 20gal seems tight (Ammonia?)

Hoping an expert will chime in soon.

He's been in QT about 2 weeks. He is eating, live brine and nori. Temp is 76. I did not fw dip. He's in CP and added some prazi today. Achilles was getting bullied by this fish and a powder brown. He probably got sick from stress, but I don't know for sure. I just did a 5g water change and there's no ammonia. I have an ammo is guard and I checked with an API test kit.

Seeing he is nose up into the powerhead is a little concerning. That is a symptom of velvet, I would do a FW dip to check for flukes plus if you are dealing with velvet the FW dip will give him relief. How have you dosed the CP and what level are you maintaining?I do believe (hopefully someone else will confirm) that CP and hypo together are really hard on a fish.

I used a measuring scoop and I'm dosing at 80mg per 20g. I suppose the dosage could be wrong because I don't have a scale. Salinity is at 1.013 SG now.

Where did you get your CP? I have read some posts about understrength CP going around. Do you have a filter running? I think polyfilters will degrade CP also.

I got it on Ebay last year so that's possible. I'm not running carbon or poly, just sponge.

He is having trouble breathing, that’s why he’s in that position near a powerhead. I would try a freshwater dip as suggested first. Report back

I did the freshwater dip (3 minutes) and he's back in the QT. Still breathing heavy and back at the surface like before.

The FW dip needs to be just short of 5 min long. Flukes etc won’t dislodge from the fish at 3 min. I usually shoot for 4:45 so the fish is out just under the 5 min mark.

Darn. Is it fine to do it again so soon?

No I would not recommend doing another one right now. Are you able to do a 100% WC and get copper running? I suspect you may have a bad batch of CP. at least with copper power you’ll know what you’ve got in the water.

I thought copper doesn't kill flukes? There's prazipro in the water, just added it today.

Did this behavior (in the powerhead) start today? Maybe when you dosed the Prazi?
