anyone have any idea what this dark brownish/reddish color blotch on my tomini tangs face is?

He’s been in quarantine for 5 days. Got from local LFS. He eats great and doesn’t appear to be in any distress.

Welcome to R2R! Many fish display their anger at being in a sterile QT by blotchy skin displays. It's a form of camouflage. Consider adding a couple of fake/plastic plants in there to give it more cover. And covering the back and 2 ends of the tank with either paint or some dark paper, gives them a bit of a "cave-like" setting that relaxes them a bit. Could also turn off the light in the tank and only use ambient light from windows or room lights.

Well that would be awesome if he was just ticked at me and that’s the reason. I was fearing sinething more complicated. I am only using ambient lighting in the garage but I could black out the back of the tank to help with the skittishness. Thanks for the reply
