I was over my brother-in-law’s house and saw his black trigger looked like it had blotches all over its body. It’s in a 1000+ gallon FOWLR tank. He said it’s been looking like that for about a week but eating and behaving normally. Any idea based on the picture?

Looks bacterial. Perhaps a secondary Infection at insertion points of a parasite such as flukes or ich.

I was thinking bacterial as well. It’s about 6 inches. Instead of trying to treat the whole tank, can it be treated in one of my 20 gallon long QT tanks?

Yes, you can treat in a hospital QT tank.

Ok. I have a tank freeing up this week. Will see if he wants me to take it and treat it. Furan 2 good? Should I do a FW dip before to check for flukes?
Thanks for the help

I would use Spectogram or NFG. FWD would be a good idea, as would a rally bath
