Hey guys,
Picked up a Blotchy from a buddy he had it in his tank for about a year. Looked great. I grabbed it from him the other day put it in my tank and he went directly to the sandbed. Came home today and he looks worse. His eye is about to pop out of his head not really moving. Whats up with him? Can i save him?

Yeah looks like just one eye? Epson salt in my reef tank? I got some crazy expensive coral in here. Thats ok?

Dosed the tank 2 nights ago didn’t really see any change but its hard to tell because hes got himself hiding in a cave and its hard to see him. What do i do next? Do i dose again! Do i do a small waterchange before dosing again? Will this bacteria spread to my other fish? I just finished going fallow for 90 days I cannot let anything happen to my other fish again.

Bacteria generally don't spread fish-to-fish.

If you feel that his eye's not improving, go ahead and set up a quarantine tank. Erythromycin has sometimes been effective with eye issues, or you could use the "trifecta" of Kanaplex, Metroplex and Furan-2 in combination. Dose according to package directions, and you'll want to keep it going for 10-14 days.

I apologize for coming in late, I agree with everything @Maritimer suggested. I think that would be your best course of action at this point.

Are these medications that i can dose in my new frag tank! I setup frag tank but nothing in it yet. Was hoping to catch him and put him in there. Just not sure if thats ok. Its not copper or anything like that right? My wife would kill me if i put up a 3rd tank.

You'll have to clean out the tank before using it for frags, but antibiotics break down fairly reliably. (That's the reason for the frequent doses.) You should be fine.

Just an update. I caught him few days after the post he was barely moving so was very easy. I treated the hospital tank with Maracyn because fastest thing i can get my hands on. Just finished that no real change id say. Did a %75 waterchange its only 10 gallon tank and treated with Furan2 today and will follow thru with directions and see what happens. He just stays in one corner of tank and does not move. Lil heavy breathing and i never see him eat. Its been a month since i had him im sure hes got be eating something. I soak lrs in garlic oil and squirt in tank. Lets see what happens

Update:
Today is my last day of the Furan2 treatment. Haven’t really seen any improvement but haven’t seen anything get worse really. He just chills in corner not moving much at all. I still have not seen him eat. After today treatment i think i will do one more round of Furan2 after that if nothing helps not sure what i should do? Put in main tank and let him be?

Antibiotics are notoriously slow-acting in marine fish. The combination of Metroplex, Furan-2 and Kanaplex should be used (all at the same time, and each according to package instructions) for 10-14 days. It can often be that long to see an improvement.
