Hey guys I’m new here and to this hobby as well! I had setup my first saltwater aquarium almost a week ago and I wanted to test its ammonia, nitrite and nitrate. The nitrite was around 0.5 ppm and nitrate was around 10 ppm which is ok I think for cycling. When I tested ammonia, I got a blue reading. So I retested around 4 or 5 times, same result, I then tested my bucket with “new water” it gave me light blue, when I tested my tap water it gave 0.25 and when I made a new batch of saltwater it was 0.25 also. Is this a sign of very high ammonia that it’s off the charts or bad water and I need to do a 25%,50%,100% water change?

I have never seen a blue reading I would go to your LFS and have it tested if possible.

Are you one cleaning after and before use . Two are you using the same test tube for the same test each time?

Yeah I rinse and shake it every time and would switch out tubes everytime I test

I believe that the ammonia is too high like wayyy off the charts high

Or it could be the API kit he is using, I am not a fan of them. Either way, I would agree that another test should be used.
