I was told they are like a night light. That I can turn them on at night. So I can see inside. Is this correct? I want to make sure it's not bad for my tank. Thank you!

You need to say exactly what light you are referring to. Blue and purple light can be in many different spectrums and intensities. I use purple+ and blue+ T5 lights and you would not use them at night. My moonlights are blue but very low intensity and stay on all night.

Oh I'm sorry. Im not sure how to explain them. They're not fluorescent or metal halide. They're little leds. Kind of looks like a light bright but the lights are further apart.

My friend says it's so you can see what's going on in there at night. I just want to make sure it's not gonna disrupt my fishes (just one lawnmower blenny now) sleep or anything like that.

Thanks for the response.

I would not leave them on at night if they are blue. Red light would be ok to leave on all night, but if they are blue, only run them when you want to look at it. Blue light is what sets coral and fish circadian rhythms.

Interesting. Good thing I asked!

Thanks for the reply.

Look up "moonlights" they are typically blue but sometimes white and if you have a good moonlight controller they will be on following the moons cycles.

Thanks Bob, I will look in to those.
