Blue Clove Polyps + Mojanos = 150g Upgrade

I had been trying to get rid of the mojanos in my tank for several months and lost the battle.

They were everywhere in my tank, so I waved the white flag and started thinking of a tank breakdown. The good news is I convinced my wife that this would be a good time to get a bigger tank than my current 90g.

My original thought was to buy new, but when I started looking for a used 120-150g, I started thinking I could also buy other new equipment with the money I would save on the tank.

After replying to a few FS threads on my local forum and coming up empty, I came across a member who was buying a new tank for himself, so I pm'd him to see if he was going to sell his current 150g and if he would let me check it out and have first dibs if price was right. He obliged and the price was GREAT!!!

When I went to his place to check out the tank, he mentioned that his Blue Clove Polyp infestation was part of the reason for his upgrade.
So Blue Clove Polyps + Mojanos = my upgrade

After renting a Home Depot truck, I had my "new" 150g in my garage, and was hopeing to have it in the house before the new year.

LOL! I love new tank builds! I also waived the white flag due to Blue Clove Polyps myself in the past! LOL!

I'm further along in this build thread, but just never posted on this forum, only my local forum, so I will slowly catch you all up to date. I didn't end up getting it in the house before 2012 because I decided to have a buddy finish the stand and another local reefer put black vinyl on the back of the tank. So in the meantime, I bought a new SRO 2000int skimmer and an ATI Dimmable sunpower 8x54w. I also picked up a 60g to make into my sump/refugium and an eheim 1262 for return pump.

So here is what the stand looks like now. We used redgard on the inside. My buddy told me this stuff can actually be used as a shower pan, it is also nice and thick, so it fills in all cracks and crevices. My place is not very big, so I didn't want doors on hinges, so doors are attached using magnets. The side panels are completely removable, but you cannot tell the way my buddy designed it. Lastly, my wife didn't want to go with a dark stain like I originally was planning on. She thought we already had too much dark wood in the house. She wanted something with color. Minwax came out with a new Charcoal Grey, and I love it!!! So here it is with two coats applied and polyurethene finish.

Looks nice! I went a little lighter for my stand this time around as well. I never thought about checking out the Minwax colors. That's really cool.

Here are some more shots, putting sump in, so you can see how side panel comes off. I also started adding NSW from Scripps Oceanography Institue. It's free and my tank has always done well with it. I also am trying acrylic rods and pillars for the first time. So moving forward a few weeks, acrylic rods complete, rock drilled and sand put in.
