I am sticking to my guns here. Also going to call in @Lionfish Lair since she is the hitchhiker master.

@meir, I have just spent a little time going through your clownfish thread and your coral ID thread. From your profile, you look like you are 15 years old. Let me give you some advice; take it or leave it.

I was just a little older than you when I started posting on forums. I thought I knew it all. I was just like you arguing about everything thinking I knew. I once told an entamologyst that a mayfly he identified was not a mayfly but some sort of midge mayfly hybrid. Sound familiar?

I failed in much of what I did. I lost a reef full of fish. I got into legal and financial trouble. Heck, I lost a beautiful daughter because I wouldn't pull my head out of the sand and consider what others were telling me.

Fast forward a few years, and after learning to listen and consider what others are telling me, I became much more knowledgeable and much more liked. I am proud of my tank, my house, and my wife and son.

I have some run of the mill fish and coral. One of the most beautiful creatures I own is a pair of humble occ. clowns. I have some pretty spectacular stuff too.

I am successful in life now not because I know all the answers or because I follow all the advice I'm givin, but because I k ow that I don't know all the answers and consider what others are telling me.

My advice is to learn from my mistakes and know that there are other much more knowledgeable people out there than you. Treat everyone with respect. If you disagree don't call everyone haters, just let it go.

Good luck my friend.
Ur right, it's very true

I've decided that I want to keep this post because it opened my eyes to something I've been refusing to look at for my all of 15 years and 10 months of my life and u know what Ima try to implement it in my life. U know that old cliché of that was a life changer? Well this is one of those moments, thank you very much @clownfish chris ur a game changer

I'll definitely scrape some of it off and I'll see

Ok so those who said it was painted u guys r right it's painted I took it out to closely inspect it and found that it was painted, what I thought was blue coralline on the back glass was purple or pink that appeared blue under the lighting so I sincerely apologize for the way I treated some of u amazing ppl thank you for putting up with it @ReeferBee @ReefQueen and others

There is some purple and pink which is real and under the blues look led blue as well but not actually blue

Thank you for apologizing, I too would like to apologize for blowing up on you. I promise it is not something I do often. I have never seen blue reef rock before, purple yes, but never blue. In the future please try and take pics with the blues off and try to get it as clear as possible for an easier ID. I will also try to not only use my phone for advice since the pics are much smaller then on the computer:)

We all make mistakes, it happens. The general consensus is that at one time the rock was painted to resemble coralline and natural rock.

To promote discussion and assist other hobbyist let's not get all bogged down in who was right and who was wrong.

Thanks.

I know it's hard to get a good pic of it but if u get a close up pic of the blue Algae maybe it will be Easyer to ID. I don't think we r trying to tell u ur wrong about it being algae cuz u very much so could be right. My thought is that Iv never seen or Heard of blue coralline so my opinion is its more likely not algae. But I get all kinds of sponges hitchhiking on my stuff. I have every color of the rainbow in sponges. So the likelihood of it being a sponge rather than algae is a lot more high. But that's my opinion. And like I said I could be wrong. That's why a closer pick mite help.
