I have had a blue damsel for 4 years, so far it is the only inhabitant of my tank (65gal), several weeks ago I added a YCA ew-25 wave generator to improve water circulation in the tank, so everything was in order. So the fish although struggled a little with the current of water but continued to live its normal life. Approximately 10 days ago I got home and couldn't find it, so a few days later I was able to see it hiding in the rocks, it has no signs of illness, it's a very fat fish and measures between 7/8cm but it doesn't come out of the rocks like it normally does. Towards, I turned off the wave generator thinking about the stress that could be the stronger water current or possibly some lost voltage but I have ruled out these two options, I also think it's possible to rule out that its lifespan is coming to an end, it has 4 years with me, so I have no idea what's wrong with this guy, he ate and swam all over the tank, my parameters are as follows:
Ammonia:0
NO2:0
NO3:40ppm
pH: Between 8.0/8.2

I doubt flow is the problem because these guys live in the ocean. Old age is a consideration of course. My damsel claims a small area under a big acro at the top of the tank and never ventures far from home.

Get some more fish in that tank.

It's strange that this fish did this, it ate and swam all over the tank. I'm going to get more fish of course but I'm looking for some specific ones that are difficult to get here in Mexico, and the quality is not very good:face-with-head-bandage:.

I have several fish that are aging out. They used to swim all over and now swim and eat very little. Like old people they just slow down too.

When in doubt always do a water change and verify parameters. I have the same size tank with a bunch of SPS too and I keep my flow at 26% intensity.

I understand that, although it seems to me that it would be something progressive and my damsel attitude was sudden, but it's possible that it's an individual situation of the fish. The wave generator is supposed to have a power of more than 2000 GPH and is recommended for 80-100 cm tanks, however it was working at its minimum capacity.

I have a scarface damsel that was all over the tank as a juvenile but when he matured he hides in his cave. Ive named him Troll for that reason. Not the same damsel but just thought I would share in case he is getting grumpy in his old age lol

This is a screenshot of a video I took of him a couple of hours ago, his electric blue coloration still persists, but he won't come out of the rocks for a minute, he hasn't fed since he hid, he seems to breathe quickly but he always does. It's been done since I've had it and I've never had any problems.

Maybe he is just lonely now

Well, my blue damsel is still the same, someone suggested to me that she probably hit the wave generator and is probably injured or very stressed now, it could be valid but I think it would be complicated for her just to be able to get to where the wave generator. On a side note, I have a 10 gallon tank with some zoanthid frags and palys, I'm struggling with cyano and some GHA, a couple of weeks ago my firefish died here, I didn't think much of it because I thought it had tried to jump and the fish went into shock or was so stressed that he died, but today my springeri damsel, both inhabitants of the 10 gallon tank, woke up dead, she died out of nowhere so that made me think that the death of my firefish was not a coincidence. It only occurs to me that the palys released palytoxin due to the stress caused by the GHA, and this killed the fish, otherwise I have no idea why the deaths were sudden, the levels in the 10 gallon tank are the same as the from my 65 gallon tank, the only difference is the nitrate which is managed at 10 ppm, any idea what happened? Something leads me to think that something fell into both tanks and killed my fish in the nano and greatly stressed my blue damselfish in the 65g.
