blue diamond goby question

Today (much to the dismay of my little coral beauty) picked up a blue diamond goby at my lfs. after acclimating and a little bit of tail whapping from my little angel (the goby was not impressed) he started sifting sand. a thought came to mind. I have a little bit of stubborn algae in my sand bed.

can a goby choke on algae?
