Blue Eye Bristletooth Injury

Good morning,

I picked up this Blue Eyed Bristletooth tang 6 days ago. Within the first few hours he began coming out for the offered nori and I noticed this on his port (left) side. It was not as large nor as dark in color as it now is. I am attempting to figure out if it has a serious injury that I should set up a medical tank for to treat or if maybe he nicked himself sliding through the rocks and the coloration is exuberant due to him still acclimating. Any advice would be greatly appreciate.

Get a picture with white lights on the injury area. I can't tell what "damage" is present under the blue light view. I am not a medication guy, so I will offer only holistic remedies of feeding fresh clams, mussels, shrimp, and maintaining superior water quality for the fish to live in.

@Humblefish will need the white light picture (net the animal & photograph the port side of the fish under natural light.)

Unfortunately, our fish passed away. He quickly became lethargic and started laying down in the rocks. We were able to get this pictures.

I was hoping for good pictures but not under these circumstances. That is a very unusual looking injury/infection, not like any I have seen. Did you find out what caused this, (is it infectious?)

I’ve messaged our LFS, and posted under the disease forum to try and get some answers. We said the same thing, we’ve been searching here and everywhere else to try to find anything similar looking to go off of.

None of the other fish have anything remotely similar looking on them, so I’m hoping whatever it is isn’t spreadable.
