Blue green chromis care

I always thought that these guys were easy to keep schooling fish. They allegedly kill each other off and die like flies. How can I avoid this? Should I expect them to easily eat pellets? How many in a 60 gallon tank? Tankmates would be 2 ocellaris clownfish a yellow coris wrasse and I want to eventually add a longnose hawkfish.

Long term mine didn't pan out in my 60g. They whittled their way down to 1, and then he lasted about another year solo. I started out by feeding 4-5 times per day, and then over the long run 2x/day. I am having great luck with a school of them in my 300, but I won't try again in the 60. I know that's probably not what you wanted to hear. Best of luck with it though!

Mine have eaten pellets and frozen food pretty well. Intraspecfic aggression has been the big problem. In a smaller tank, one fish is the safest option.

I don't recall, but I think it started with 3 in there. I don't see any issue with simply getting 1. As to food I've never had an issue. I usually start off by feeding Reef Nutrition R.O.E. and then start alternating with other things. Mine will eat flake, frozen, pretty much anything now.

In a 60g I would just go with one. They will school in the wild but they do it for protection. In smaller tanks, with other fish the same size as the chromis, it becomes a competition for food. Feeding 3-4 times a day is advised to keep aggression lower but more than likely in time youll end up with one.

I have 8 in my 180G for about 10 months. A couple of females are spawning regularly.
