Hey guys i got 3 blue green chormis 11 days ago. They seem happy, active, aggressive feeding, however i noticed a spot on the smallest chromis today.. wondering if i should be worried? other fish have nothing on them, and the smallest chromis can be seen being chased by the big chromis from time to time but usually only during feeding time (as far as i can see). these are my first and only fish, and i have no corals.

Here is a picture... the dot looks blue in the picture but it is actually white and i think i see like a slight red line? it does appear to be bumpy.

Looks like Uronema... dont know much about it except that the Chromis is prone to this disease. Others will chime in.

ahh ok.. so far it doesnt seem to look like anything in the pictures when i search uronema chormis... unless its at its beginning states. will uronema begin to grow ontop of the fish skin?? or is it more of a under the skin thing? because this white spot is protruding from the skin a bit. i'm almost wondering if its from bullying... but its not like these fish have teeth right?

Chromis have teeth albeit very small. Unfortunately, I'm no fish disease expert so I cant say one way or another... but seeing the picture and knowing that the fish is a Chromis, the first thought was Uronema. Theres lots of people here of lots of knowledge and they'll post up. Good luck!

Here's a recent thread that may be helpful...

I do see a red spot also and would suspect Uronema. Did you QT these fish before adding to display? Here is a good article on the subject.

appreciate the article - i know it looks red in the picture but the spot is white. almost like a flesh wound it looks like. i know its a bad picture :(

Try and snap another picture. Yea unfortunately the picture that’s posted does look red.

will do as soon as i get home after work! and no, i did not QT the fishes... these are my very first fish and i do not yet have a QT set up (my first tank as well). i will now look into setting up a QT tank before my next purchase!

No problem. But unfortunately those Chromis are very prone to having Uronema so let’s just hope it’s not the case!

I can see the white now and mixed with a little red maybe he scraped himself against a rock. The white would resemble skin tore. Keep an eye on it and make sure it doesn’t grow larger. If so we are dealing with something different.

Will definitely keep and eye on it. Thank you very much for your help!!
