Blue hard coral Hitchiker

came in on the side of a rock with another aussie coral
this has been in my tank with the light thats mainly for growth so I dont think we have seen its potential yet. I just moved it today to my color up tank.

To often when you hear the term hitchhiker it is referred to something that we dont want in our tanks. Glad to hear someone finally got something nice.

I am now leaning to echino, what is the diameter of this piece?

Its only about the size of a quarter.
Was about a half dollar when I got it in. Receeded for a bit, then came back. For the first month I wasnt sure it was going to make it.

so flat, non symetrical, encrusting, skeletal growth right up to edge of flesh, ---echino--not to mention the coloration up yo this pointe, specially since we can see a little of the skeleton.

agreed that it's looking like an echino now.

similar maybe to cotton candy if blueish base and pinkish eyes...

Here is an update. Check it out now

fungia i had one come in like that there usualy atleast the size of a nickel before they detach and become free living .i was in hopes mine was a scoly also but it turned out otherwise.

Looks like an echino of some sort; you may have the next my miami on your hands. All you have to do now is create the hype, and slap a huge price on it... Nice hitchhiker for sure!

at first i was thinkin scoly but now i'm thinkin echino. I think we are gonna have to wait and see what it looks like when it is all grown out. One of the best hitch hikers i have seen though.

definitely leaning towards echino considering even in the very first post he said it wasn't fleshy. but great find either way!
