Hello everyone I have a blue hippo that usually eats like a pig, but since yesterday stopped , I lost about 5 anthias all in the course of 3 days , is this velvet?

I currently took the remaining fish out of the tank and have them in quarentine only 3 out of 7 are eating the rest are not and that is very unusual these fish were pigs, last fish I added were 4 Bimac anthias about a month ago.

I also posted a vid on the hippo breathing very fast

These are mucus cones associated with cryptocaryon (marine ich).
You will need to place fish in Quarantine tank and treat with Coppersafe or Copper Power at therapeutic level 2.25-2.5 For a FULL 30 days (do not interrupt this 30 day period) monitored by a reliable Copper Test kit such as Hanna Brand- No API brand. Also monitor Ammonia levels while in quarantine with a reliable test kit and add aeration during treatment using an air stone.
The display tank will have to be kept fishless (FALLOW) for 6-8 weeks to assure the existing parasites go through their life cycle without a host fish and die off
A quarantine tank can be as simple as a tank from a second hand store or a starter kit from Walmart which most of the needed essentials.

Oh! Sorry to see. That does look like Amyloodinium/velvet. Trouble is, it kills quickly. Having lost those anthias means the clock has begun to run out. You need to get all of the fish into full copper ASAP. I would recommend Coppersafe at 2.5 ppm.

I imagine the fish didn't make it through the night.....but:

That's weird - in these pictures, I can see more distinct spots than in the first ones. Could you have missed the spots on the anthias that died? What fish remain? Can you post a video of them?

I should add the last fish was added a month ago , do you still think it’s velvet?

It just died , literally took its last breath just now
It’s crazy everything was GOOD! For the past few weeks eating like crazy , the boom 3 days ago everything started to hide and now this… last fish I added was 3 anthias like a month ago does this parasite take that long to show up? Isn’t that weird?

I can’t catch one anthias it’s still eating is it cool if I leave it
Tank is high risk. Consider a fish trap - They Do Work !
