Is this blue hippo healthy? Have not see him eat really. Been feeding pellets along with nori and have not seen him touch it really besides a little nibble here and there. It is still small but I can see a faint outline of a rib cage almost? I’m not sure I’ll include a picture or two.
I am trying to still nori in the rocks to see if it will eat it so, we’ll see how that goes

What size tank, how long has it been in there, what other fish and how long have they been in there? Competition for food initally can be weird.

60 gallon housing for now, with a coral beauty, pair of clowns and lawnmower blenny and watchman shrimp pair

Tang been in there for like ~4 days I believe, it’s a new addition then everything else, a long time

Looking a little thin. Some foods to consider are:
LRS herbivore diet or fish frenzy
Formula 2
Hikari marine cuisine
mysis shrimp
Spirulina brine shrimp
small plankton

Add selcon vitamins to foods occasionally for overall stamina

Yeah that’s what I thought. He seems to be very happy though, swimming around and everything but just got a little worried on his size. What food do you think is best and easiest?

I’ll get some tomorrow morning and try it. Does that mean he’s not looking too good?
If he’s swimming normally and at least picking at stuff. Tangs are tough fish. I’ve got a Blue one as well. 9” If he doesn’t go for the shrimp, he might have a parasite. There are meds for that.

Mine loves the LRS foods, mysis, small plankton and Hikari veggie diet

Mine eats Nori daily, but loves Mysis and brime shrimps, worms and LRS and all kind of food for carnivores. That tang is more planktivore than herbivore so a varied diet is best.

Tankmates?

Fish this size often get intimidated by larger fish

Pellets on new hippo , reely , rumor is tons of trolling on reef2reef , lol lol

Tried the hikari herbivore diet today. No luck. Need to try out mysis shrimp tmrw. Has been eating a little bit of nori here and there but nothing to what it should be eating. Thanks for the suggestions!

It will eventually eat it. These guys are shy and you may have to walk away at feeding to allow this fish to eat

He seems to be very friendly! No aggression towards anything and happily swimming around. Treated with prazi so I know there’s no sickness involved. Going to just hope for the best!
