Guys i recently acquired a blue linckia star. It looked great when i got it. As soon as i put it in the tank, it disappeared under some of my rock work. They're faster than i thought. Well today as I'm looking around i see a star digit that's not attached to the star. There's nothing else in the tank but hermits and snails and corals. What could've caused it to lose an arm? And with a missing arm, what signs am i looking for? Is it going to be ok?

Sorry but it's a goner. those are super sensitive to changes. I've never been able to successfully keep them alive long-term.
My parameters are right on point. Could it be possible my lfs's wasn't?
Parameters
Ammonia 0
Nitrites 0
Nitrate 0
Phosphate 0.1
Sal 1.025
Ph 8.2
Cal 400
Mg 1350
Temp 80.2°F
What could be wrong?

Your parameters look fine. imo, especially with the blue ones, any change in parameters can be fatal. so yes, it could be just the change from the lfs water to yours.

They fall apart just before death. I have two still alive from 8 I purchased 3 months ago as an experiment in a very established reef tank. Had 3 until Wednesday.

And they don't last long in smaller young systems. From all I've read or been told by reliable sources. They feed on micro sponges and such and are a really bad choice for home aquariums. Yea how's that.:mad::mad::mad::mad:
My fave Lfs will not stock them period.

Are pineapple sponges considered micro sponges? Cause if they are, it could survive 100 years in my tank. Lol.

I woke up this morning and white stringy gooey stuff coming from the 2 legs is lost. Is it a goner? Should i pull it out of the tank?
