Blue Maxima Clam

You can also look for another one of those light for the tank.they are cheap becuse they are the low par ones. I'm guessing it would fit. You just use a splitter and larger amperage power supply the same voltage. You only need one controller. It's what I have in my sump now.

I sold an 18in pro w lenses for $50.

I run that light on my mom's nano. Ofcourse smaller but so is the tank and depth and I grow RBTA no problem but I wouldn't try a clam. My honest opinion is to pass on the clam until you can get a sufficient light. Even if you put the clam up high they have the ability to move rendering the high spot useless. Not trying to be negative here. Clams are one of my favorite marine animals and were only giving you honest advice because we want you to succeed and the clam to thrive. A couple months under insufficient light isn't thriving.

I may just buy a light. Is there a good light I can attach to the tank? I have lids so when I open them I want them to fully open and not be blocked by the low hanging light. Suggestions?

There are many good light systems out there and even some knock off Chinese light system with darn cheap price tag. However, don't be cheap on the light set, just be reasonable with your financial income, If you have tight budget then hold off and save/wait until you can get a better light system that you don't have to switch it out again in many years.
Note:
Take a look into the Aquarium light section in this forum will give you more than enough information and ideas which light set you would need and match your fanancial budget.

3/4" of an inch is a really small Maxima. I mine is 8" inches and it is under MH. Maxima's need a intense light to do well. Make sure the clam is on a clam tile so it can have a secure basil area. No feeding is required.

Are you shopping for lights?
Let me know the budget, the tank size and why you have in there.
A tank pic will work.
You can PM me too. Might be able to find one on amazon prime.
The t247 comes to mind first.

OH MY GOD!! DID I JUST RIP THE FOOT OFF?????

While gently moving the clam it came off of the 2 small rocks. I didnt pull I just gently lifted it up to move it. It showed no resistance. The small white string is still attached to the other rock..

Did I just kill my maxima clam.. Its opening up right now. Dont tell me that was the foot, I thought they were stronger than that!

byssal threads.
Look at the big hole on the bottom side of the clam. Look ok?

So, for now I just put it in a little hole in the rock so it doesnt fall. Is that okay? If it doesnt grab on overnight ill have to move it because something will probably knock it over.
Place it on a flat stable rock surface that not restricted it to open and close it shell. It's young so it will produce thread to take hold at the place if it feel happy and comfy.
You will know in next the morning, if it doesn't like the place, it will move or turn itself to some different direction.

This is where it is and what it looks like
