I got two free blue chromis today for free!!!!! The LFS said they had some ammonia burns and gave them to me as he was unsure if
they'd survive. They look awesome!!! anyone have these? how many would be needed to be in a group? Would they school with
green chromis ?

In my experience none of them will school or shoal. I think they would be fine in the same tank but don't be surprised when they go missing one at a time. This goes for any color chromis

IMHO people look past the needs of chromis for their survival in aquaria. I know green chromis come from the reef crest where the flow is high which would mean high oxygenated waters. They also need small frequent feedings. They "dont school" because in the wild they are generally further apart with approx a foot between each fish.

From my personal experience and thru reading, chromis stop schooling in reef tanks where there is no threat from predators and turn on each other. My personal experience was with 5 that disappeared one by one until there was two left. I have not lost any other fish during that process so I am sure it has something to do with this. My tank is also just a 65 tall but I have heard similar stories from folks with larger tanks.
