However, you can still use Chloroquine phosphate (for ich/velvet), hyposalinity & tank transfer method (both for ich only) on an eel.
 
I wouldn't medicate these guys right off the bat unless you're 100% positive of disease. Try and get it feeding 1st since ribbons can be very finicky to get eating and this is 1 of the biggest reasons (next to escape) that this guys are more difficult than other eels.
 
Eels are pretty resistant when it comes to ich and velvet. Most of them fight it off just fine. However it would still be present in the system.
