Blue skim mate

I am a lil over 2 weeks into cycling my first tank. Today I started my skimmer to set it up and attempt to understand it. My skim mate and bubbles on the top appear to have a blue hue. Is this normal? I've not seen a vid or a post that looks like what I have. Is there an issue I need to rectify?

Is that filter media on the bottom blue? The blocks, not the pad you have the skimmer on.

Looks more greenish tint to me, but photos sometimes distort colors.

I have no idea. I got it in a box of stuff when I purchased the tank. Was told it was new/unused. Appeared as such. Was told to place it in there.

Its definitely that filter media under it that was the first thing I thought wait till you get cyano it will get a red tint!

Should I remove? I don't want to unless it's going to mess it up as I seeded it as well with bacteria.

Did you rinse it in RODI before putting it in your tank?
Do you have any rock/sand in your tank?

Yes to both.

Can't say 4 sure it needs removed but I would definitely keep running the skimmer wet see if it goes away or has any other effects but usually when something it breaking down and leaving color dyes it doesn't seem right to me..

Is a 75g with 3 rock structures, about 50lbs of agralive in the DT and 10lbs in the refugium area.

Used Dr Tim's one and only for the bacteria.

If you have enough sand and rock, you should be able to do without those blue blocks (whatever they are). Might cause a slight delay in the cycle, but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Might you try skimming dryer— not so wet— and see whether it makes a difference? (Although to be honest, I don’t know that that necessarily answers any questions about the cause.)

Looks like you have plenty of rock. If it were me, I'd pull the blue blocks, do a water change, run carbon and add more rock to the sump. But that's me.
