Blue sponge dieing.

I have this blue spong. It’s been growing great. Lately it’s starting to deteriorate.

Any ideas? My clown fish have been rubbing on it. That’s all I can think of.

My parameters are texted book!

How’s the light? And flow? I have several photosynthetic sponges and they need good flow to keep the nasty stuff off of them.

Flow is high light could be the issue. A coral Monti is growing above it. I thought sponges did not need light ?

Not all sponges need light. Usually the dark purple or blue ones are photosynthetic plating sponges. I have a red one and two dark purple ones. I also have lots of other sponges that grow in the dark areas.

I looked it up and it’s a photosynthetic plating sponge!

That’s why it’s dieing bc light is going away.

If it is similar to mine, it will come back no problem. Mine went all white from antibiotics and disintegrated and was back flourishing within weeks. I also tried to kill some off and now it is all returning. Very hardy.
