Decided to try my hand with leopard wrasses today for the first time in 18 years in the hobby. LA order was delayed, the UPS rep said it was due to a “monsoon” in Kentucky. They were great about it though, calling me, tracking down the driver, the driver sent his cell, met me out on the route around 2:30. Have to say, UPS was very invested in saving my order.

So, surprisingly to me, despite the five hour delay, both came in looking very good so far!

Despite Fenner’s recommendation I am QTing them. I matched the shipping salinity to a cycled 46g qt tank, so I just quickly temp acclimated, no drip. I added live rock and pods, and two containers of sand. I put them right in the sand but the both left (and probably can’t find it again just yet), and appear to be hunting already!

Anyway, I know it’s touch and go and early days, so I’ll keep you all posted. Really beautiful fish.

Nice. I just added one myself. It was in my LFS for 3 weeks to ensure that it would eat properly. Mine seems to really like seaweed and does eat some reef frenzy as well. My Melanurus isn't too happy about the addition but is slowly starting to accept it.

Very cool! My LFS gets them, but they want almost double LA’s price.... They keep them bare bottom. I’ve asked to see three of them eat they never do. I tell them every time get it some d@mn sand.... smh...

I started with two, they were tiny, barely larger than an inch. One didn't make it past copper, but the other went through two bouts and is about to be released to the DT shortly. Almost 2" now, she's super active in QT, with an uncanny attention to keeping a sand sleep schedule, almost to the minute most days.

* whops, second part didn't make it. You'll love them when they get into a routine, very beautiful as females.

Mine wasn't hard at all to acclimate to eating frozen. Reef frenzy was like candy to her. She's slowly becoming a he. Beautiful fish.

Mine are out and about during the day already. Seem to really like each other. They are picking at mysis, but not with real gusto yet. Def eating pods. Gorgeous and interesting to watch. Now I just wish the two royal grammas I’m qting with them weren’t intent on their mutual destruction ha
