Blue Starfish - what's going on?

I had a blue linckia in my 30g reef and its main diet consisted of stomatella snails and left over mysis from feeding. I had my LFS hold this star for me for two weeks before I pulled the trigger because of their finicky track record of survival. But it survived and It would crawl over the snails and in about an hour or two the snail was gone and the starfish was on its way. Stomatella Snails reproduce very fast and gave my star the best natural food it could have. Sadly I had to break down my tanks due to disability financial issues but now that I've sorted that out I plan on adding them to my new shallow lagoon tank. Them being linckias

Edit: this was also my third linckia. I had a blue and orange in my main DT tank also

That's super interesting and thought provoking!
Yea it was weird when I first noticed it eating a snail because I would see the starfish over a snail but I figured they just bundled up into the corners together but one time I kept watching and to my surprise it managed to eat through the shell and consume the snail! They breed very fast so it never impacted my snail population and my starfish was always fed very well ;)

Also it never attempted to eat my turbos or cerith snails
