Hey there so I have two blue tangs in my roommates tank not sure exactly what type of blue tang but anywho, one was put in two months or so ago due to tank failure and every time I see them their good but I notice at night the bigger one chases after the smaller one. I read its natural in the wild that they fight for the best hiding spaces due to predators at night but during the day they are side by side plucking the liverock joyously together. Should I separate them still? They are well fed and even get seaweed snackies. Thanks.

Keep them WELL FED. Make sure they have enough space. Aggression may grow over time as they grow older so everything should remain okay until it is not. Fingers crossed. Time will tell, but you are smart to just keep an observant eye on them. Once/IF they escalate to tail 'slapping' and then it goes to cutting each other with that tail bone, get one a new home.

Well luckily I have a cycled tank thats been ready, maybe I should rehome him incase? I just hate to take his only blue friend of the same ancestry lol but dont want fights.

you'll have some warning as/IF they change... BUT if you separate them you later may not be able to home them together and still have them acting as compatible as currently they seem...

Remember - there are individuals, and there are generalizations... there is never 1 answer that works for all.

For now, you might be better off just leaving them alone but like everything in our tanks, keep an eye on them

Are these Paracanthurus hepatus or Acanthurus leucosternon?

What's the tank size?

Unless it's a really big tank, it's usually best to keep one per species. They actually don't like fish like themselves.
