Hi all

I am pretty new to marine tanks and trying to learn as much as I can from all sources available, so please bare with me if some of my questions seem silly or knowledge isn't great

I bought a established marine tank about 6 weeks ago which came with 2 x clown fish, 1 x blue tang, 1 x fox face, 1 x blend, 2 x chromes

It is a Red Sea max 250

I recently added some more live rock and a 6 line wrasse

but since then My blue tang has some really worrying signs

I went away for the weekend a came back to find my skimmer tube had twisted so wanted working all weekend, 2 days later the blue tang was very slow moving and had a real cloudy eye, I did a 50% water change, since then she has been back to helfself and her eye has cleared up but she seems to have major skin problems, which looks horrific, can anyone shed any light on this or give me advice please ??

I haver carried out all the water test and they have been uploaded in a photo,

Thanks in advance

Looks like a couple things going on.

One for sure is HLLE.

The open sores look Flukes to me.

#reefsquad?

It looks like skin hemorrhage and possibly HLLE disease. Best thing to do is water changes, clean tank, skimmers and pumps, increase flow, offer varied diet, dose garlic and vitaminC

Best of luck to you and welcome here @R2R!

Flukes are not a good thing and they have a detrimental affect on Tangs and Angels especially.

A 5 min FW dip to confirm flukes Is a good idea.

Do you have a QT? You are going to need to set one up and treat this fish with antibiotics. The areas are infected. You need to get to the root of the issue though and treat whatever is causing the infection as well.

I would recommend Metroplex Kanaplex and Furan-2 used in a QT for 10-14 days.

This is exactly my suggestion, you’re dealing with a nasty infection. You’ll need to treat very quickly to save this fish.
