hi! i recently bought a juvenile blue tang but it’s just hiding in the rock work i have in the tank and won’t come out to eat or anything. i drip acclimating it and everything. i was just wondering if this is normal for blue tangs or if i should be worried?

What other fish or things is it hiding from?
They are known to be good cryptic hiders especially when they are scared. If it is new it is probably just getting used to the new situation. Does it come out to eat?

i have 4 clowns, flame angel, royal gramma, and a couple cleaner shrimp. it’ll come out and grab one piece of food then go back to hiding and won’t come back out

Those fishes can all be aggressive towards new fish. As long as it is eating it should eventually warm up to the situation and be more visible.

what size tank is it in my purple hid when i had him in a small tank came out straight away in bigger tank

Mine hide for the first several days before coming out to eat with the rest of the fish. It's found a place to sleep at nights, laying down in a very small crevice in my rocks. If you acclimated it, it's probably just getting used to the tank and his neighbors.

i haven’t seen any aggressive activity from any of the fish towards it but i will definitely keep an eye out! thank you!
