So I have a blue tang in a quarantine and its about time to reintroduce him into my tank... whats the best way to keep stress levels low and prevent ich infestation from happening again?

Was he stressed due to other fish? Eating? Not enough hiding/sleeping spots? There are tons of things that could stress a fish and start the ich cycle all over again. I would rearrange some of the rock work and introduce at night with the lights off.

i usually introduce with the lights off in the am, and once in there i keep the lights on low for that day at least for a few hours. Next day i turn the lights on but gradually raise them back to normal depending on how he responds to the tank.
Also when i transfer him i try to use my hand not the net. I have caught a lot of fish fins on nets and its caused stress in trying to release them.

what size is the dt? unless it's a big tank you may have problems in the future. these tangs get big and need lots of swimming room.

Sorry misread, thought he was new and you was just first introducing him... Still i would keep lights off for him for at least a day...

As previously mentioned, re-introduce in low light but why quarantine and reintroduce at all if you know the display tank still has ich?

If ich in the DT indeed didn't have a host to continue its life cycle for 10 weeks and your blue tang went through a proper QT to rid it of ich, I don't believe you can have another outbreak of ich even if the blue tang is stressed upon reintroduction. Nonetheless, it wouldn't hurt to try to minimize stress during this process (dimmed lights). Good luck, hope this helps!
