So my blue throat trigger died today. I got him about 2 weeks ago and seemed to be doing well for the most part, very shy but eating. I didn't not run him thru a QT tank. Then the last 2 days he stopped eating and just stayed in one spot in the tank. He looked very swollen and his eyes looked a little poped out as well. I was able to get him out of the tank and into the sump for observation but within a couple minutes he was just floating sideways on the top. Too late for him now but any ideas? Would like to know how to treat something like this in the future. I will be setting up a QT going forward but any idea what more than likely killed him?

blue throat triggers get stressed and spooked real easy, went thru two of them...eating great for months on end and than one day they got spooked and never came out of a cave and died...I'm lucky right now as i swore i would not get another one, but i have had one now for 6 months and he is the chairmen of the tank..

I did have to move a big rock near his normal hiding spot about the time he stopped coming out at all. Maybe that spooked him too much.

We'll likely never know. Triggers are pretty resistant to the skin stuff (ich, velvet, brook, flukes). But they *can come in with parasites in their gut.
