Just got a Blue Throat Trigger from my local store, he seemed to be happy. I know the store, they medicate and have near perfect conditions. So after acclimcating for about an hour, he spends most of his time literally inside my rock. Some behaviors I noticed:
1. Sometimes swims sideways for around 1-2s and then goes back to upright
2. Jerky movement sometimes, he "snaps" his neck around

He eats a lot tho. Any weird behavior?

1.026~1.027 Sal
8.1 pH
0.04 PO4
0.5 No3
78.2F
Cal, Alk and Mg all at recommended.

he's adjusting to your tank. Should come out of it be OK.

I’ve had several blue throat’s over the years , it’s a very timid fish when you first put it in your tank. It will be a few weeks(maybe 2/3) before he’s just out swimming freely from my experience. Even when they’re comfortable in your aquarium they are still easily spooked. They are absolute hogs though will eat mostly anything, mine would even eat the nori sheets I used for my tangs

Blue throats can be pretty timid at first, so the lodging himself and hiding in the rockwork is normal. The swimming sideways does not sound normal, though and sounds like a possible swim bladder issue or overall stress from acclimation issues / changing tanks (although these things often resolve themselves after a day or two) What salinity was the LFS keeping him at?

I’ve got a pair of blue throat triggers and they sleep in the rocks, and they also retreat there if they are spooked at all

They eat anything and also snap their mouths shut which you can hear if that’s what you mean. Mine sometimes swim on their sides as well so that sounds normal.

It’s probably just settling in to the new home.

Good luck with it they're beautiful fish. I'm thinking the twitching u describe might be a sign of flukes?

1. He isn't going sideways or twitching anymore, probably once every 20m that I see him. He eats literally everything, and when he first attacked the turkey baster, I dropped it xD and then he gobbled up all the frozen food while I was trying to get the baster back.

What happened to his dorsal fin? Nevermind. Lol

Wait a second, during feeding, he started going sideways and vigorously rubbing himself on the rock for several seconds! Maybe a disease, anyone confirm? Ill try to get a vid of him doing that...

Observed him again, only weird sign is 1 eye is cloudy and 1 eye is not... and rubbing against rocks. Flukes?
