I was just wondering if blue throat trigger would be fine in a 75 gallon reef?

For a while, depending on starting size. I've had a few triggers that are slow growers and some that seem to grow at lightening speed. Just be ready for a larger tank in a year or 3...

it might be ok. i have my trigger in a 6 ft long tank and he goes back and forth all day. doesn't seem to be bored but seems to like the space. i don't have a blue throat but a trigger in the same family.

No, this would be a year'ish thing. They get too big and need to much open swimming area.

There arent any triggers that would be sustainable in a 75g for life. They get 8-12inches long...

It should at least now

Ok I’am just looking for bigger fish that could go in a reef tank

Do you have swimming room or packed with rock? I really like my foxface. Extremely bold.

The Male blue throat is what you see in all the pic's. Females are pretty drab in comparison

You have never seen a sick fish at ur lfs. I got to believe we have all seen a sick fish. Nothing you can do about it unless you want buy it. I don't think it should be kept with other fish or before sell. And SUH all you want

I guess you were looking at another thread

Ok thanks everyone I’d be only keeping one. would it be fine permanently?

It depends on how fast it grows in your tank - and how it is doing. Almost all the fish we keep have swimming areas far bigger than a 75 gallon tank - it all depends on the fish. For example - some people keep large fish that act like puppies - interested in their surroundings, etc - others turn neurotic and have behavior problems. IMO it all depends. According to Saltwaterfish.com - a 75 gallon tank is 'the minimum'

I am not sure this is 'always true' - and in that case - they shouldn't be being sold. I have seen lots of old triggers - and none have even approached that size - in the wild its a different story.

I’m with you on that. I’ve has my Picasso for 15 years and he’s probably only four inches.

I have a pair in my 8 foot tank. They use the entire length and love going back and fourth. I would say a 75 would only be a temporary home
