Anyone have any experiences with this set up? Blue throat trigger with other fish, inverts in a reef tank for a longer duration of time? Really thinking about buying one for my reef

I HAVE HAD TWO PAIRS. VERY REEF SAFE. THEY MAY PICK AND MOVE FRAGS OCCASIONALLY BUT NON-DESTRUCTIVE

I've had great success with Blue throats and a Niger in a reef. Never had any issues with them picking at corals... But did find that now and then they would pick at inverts (crabs, snails, shrimp...) Never any issues with coral though.

Would you say the blue throat was picking at them too? I figured the niger would and wanted him originally but want something safe for all.

My Niger has been in my 200 gallon mixed reef now for about a year. He is a model citizen. He has never bothered anything.

I have seen Blue Throats pick at inverts. But the are for sure more calm than a Niger.

It wasn't targeting coral. It was searching for food and tried to move plugs to get to it. If you glued/putty plugs down- wont be an issue. the males are VIVID!

So now I wonder if I would have to get a auto feeder so they dont get hungry?

I don't think the auto feeder is a necessity, as long as you keep them well fed. Also when I say pick at them, it's not a constant thing. Just something I've noticed every now and then, pretty rare actually, but it did happen.
