Hey guys,

I have a beautiful Blue Throat Trigger that I have had for about a year now. Super calm and very peaceful which is nice - he could easy make a nice snack out of my Chromis, Filefish or Clowns.

My question is:

Do they need anything special in terms of having them file down their teeth? I know their teeth can grow and they need to file it down in order for them to be able to eat properly.

I feed the tank daily with Nori, pellets (small and large) along with frozen foods. He eats everything except the Nori sheet (Tangs will only usually eat this).

Sometimes in the mornings I will see small pieces of my fiji liverock on the sandbed which I know were not there the night before, and I am assuming its my trigger filing down his teeth. I'm fine with him doing this, I just wanted to know if I should be doing anything to aid in this process?

Thanks!

I believe clams are a good food for them to help file down their teeth :) And I do agree, that is an absolutely beautiful fish :)

I have heard the same and agree - clams are good.

Issue I have is getting the clams out of the tank after its eaten and done. I have a 36" deep tank. Grabbing stuff on the bottom proves quite challenging most times lol
