I've got a 4 foot long 120 gal mixed reef display (softies & LPS with a few SPS). 65 gal sump/fuge. Always liked the trigger family!!!! Thinking about getting a male blue throated trigger. Would this be a bad decision? Current fish stock list includes foxface, yellow tang, six line, 3 anthias, 2 clowns & 2 chromis. Are my dreams of having a trigger possible or should I avoid at all costs?

I have a bluethroat in my 180 mixed reef and I absolutely love him. Great personality and fun to feed him and hear him chomp on the food. I haven't personally run into this problem but the only problem I could see is if you don't feed enough they may chow down of CUC. But have never had any problems and adore mine.

With my anthias I have to feed a LOT so hopefully that shouldn't be a prob. Thanks

Members of the Xanthichthys genus are some of my favorites. They actually tend to be relatively shy, especially for triggerfish. I haven't had a problem with any of the ones I've owned doing much damage to the CUC. Good luck!

Love mine and he isn't shy at all. No problem with cuc at all but I feed well. Sometimes they can be tough to get eating so make sure you find one eating prior to buying. I'm a big online but but this is one first I'd recommend buying local. Now I need to find a nice pic of mine.

Is the 120 too small or right on the edge of being ok? Liveaquaria says minimum of 125 gallons. My tank has lots of open rock work with plenty of places to swim in and out of.

That is a nice looking fish. Makes me really want one now!!

Had male/female in a mixed reef. They were perfect except the male didn't like my rosy headed wrasse and chased him into the overflow. Tons of other fish and they didn't bother any other (including anthias). Eventually had to trade them in because I loved the wrasse, but I wouldn't hesitate in trying again as it relates to reef safeness.

120 would be fine for a few years and a small one I'm thinking, but I'm a liberal thinker in such matters.

That reminds me mine jumped into my over flow twice and it was blocked off. I had to pull out the canopy to do a better job blocking off over flow. It did the trick but beware they are jumpers.

Went to Tropicorium last weekend. Cool place and great prices. Picked up this guy. Still shy in his new home but eating well and starting to socialize.

I would love to add a trigger to my 120 gal. tank, but thought they needed more room than that. some say they grow rather slowly. maybe I'll try a small one. I love the Picasso but feel they get too big.
