I have a blue tipped Acro which I have had a number of years grown from a small frag and moved from tank to tank with each upgrade. What I have noticed is as it nears the surface of the water it's become bushier spreading out branches in all directions. One branch is approximately 3/4" off the surface others not far behind which suits me in truth. Seems like the acro senses the surface of the water is near and has put its energy into branching out.

Good oberservation. A lot of stuff play a role in that. IMO its flow light water quality on how sps grow.
